Singing Body Workshop by Dohee Lee
4 pm – 9 pm
Born on Jeju Island, Dohee Lee is a performance artist who practises healing as a defiant strategy against patriarchal, colonial oppression. Her performances focus on the mythical, ritualistic and healing aspects of art in collective action. Her workshop is for anyone interested in learning vocal- and movement-based healing techniques in an open-minded community. Her methods are rooted in Korean shamanism and they guide us to navigate and delve deeper into our individual and collective roots, our cultural heritages, and to express the memories of formative experiences such as oppression, displacement and migration.
With the body, voice, rhythm and breath as tools, we activate the body and free our voices to create a new universal, artistic language.
No previous experience is necessary! To register, send a few words about yourself to [email protected]
The participants are also invited to participate in Dohee Lee’s performance ritual MU/巫 at Wiener Festwochen and to support the artist using the techniques learned in the workshop. The performance will take place in the Gösserhallen on 15 June at 10.30 pm. Admission is free.
A project of Wiener Festwochen and Brunnenpassage.
